45th Annual
Community Service Awards Dinner

On September 26, 2013, Hope celebrated 45 years of community service with our Annual Community Service Awards Dinner! This year’s Community Service Awards event was held at  The New York Academy of Medicine, and its theme was “Rebuilding Neighborhoods One Block at a Time.” The reception was hosted by Friends of Hope and Apex Mechanical with opening remarks by Reed Rickman, President of Apex Mechanical.
The evening’s music was provided by the Manna House Faculty Three, who were first-time musical guests at this event. Joining us once again as Mistress of Ceremonies was the Emmy-Award winning correspondent Lynda Baquero (WNBC 4, above). The 2013 awardees included Frederick Benfredj, President, Exotic Fragrances International, Inc., Dr. Jacqueline Mondros, Dean, Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, City University of New York and Nancy Lepre, President, Avante Contracting. The keynote address  was given by Marc Jahr, President, NYC Housing Development Corporation. New York City Comptroller John Liu and Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito arrived to show their support along with our many sponsors.
Hope Community honored the aforementioned awardees for their significant contributions to the East Harlem community. Their impact has contributed to rebuilding neighborhoods and enriching East Harlem/El Barrio, one block at a time.
