Community Service Awards Dinner

On September 20, 2012, Hope Community, Inc. hosted its 43rd Annual Community Service Awards Gala at Gran Piatto d’Or Restaurant. The event was generously sponsored by The Mount Sinai Medical Center, Avante Contracting Corporation, and the Apex Mechanical Corporation.

The event opened with a Friends of Hope VIP Reception hosted by Board member Kathy Benson, followed by an address by Henry M. Calderon, Trustee of the Mount Sinai Medical Center and President of the East Harlem Chamber of Commerce.

Immediately following the reception, was the Gala’s Community Service Award Dinner hosted by Mr. Brad Beckstrom, Director of Government & Community Affairs for The Mount Sinai Medical Center, which celebrated the theme “Spirit of East Harlem”, and honored individuals who have made lasting contributions to the community.  Distinguished awardees were the Hon. Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President, and Mr. Hank Prussing, muralist of the Spirit of East Harlem located on 104th street at Lexington Avenue. Also, recognized was former long-time Hope Community Board Member, Ms. Octavia Flemister.

Presenters included Hope Board President, Ann Henderson and Board Member Roger Caban.
