Johnny Rivera
Director
Johnny Rivera is Senior Community Outreach Specialist and Organizer at Build Up Justice NYC. A longtime resident of East Harlem, Mr. Rivera has a track record of community service and tenant and housing advocacy. Mr. Rivera was previously Director of Community and Government Affairs of Harlem RBI, Senior Director of Programs at Mount Sinai Hospital, and a member of staff for former Congressman Charles B. Rangel.
His community service includes acting as Chairman of the Land-Use Committee for Community Board #11, serving on the Professional Advisory Committee to the Little Sisters of the Assumption, and served on the Board of Directors for the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Youth Action Program, and the East Harlem Block School Nurseries, Peace on the Streets, Sinergia and the Lott Residency for Senior Citizens.
Mr. Rivera graduated with B.A. degree in Political Science from Hunter College and earned credits towards a Master's Degree in Public Administration at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
