This year Poetas has included performances at Taller Boricua at the Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center.
Each January, Hope Community celebrates El Barrio's time-honored tradition of the Three Kings Day Parade, its renowned procession through the streets of El Barrio. This time-honored tradition fills up the neighborhood's streets with lively music, colorful dancing and parrandas. In addition to participating in the Three Kings Day Parade, Hope Community hosts a Three Kings Day Dinner to commemorate and celebrate the journey of the biblical kings.
THANKSGIVING DINNER AT CARLOS RIOS
Each November, Hope Community hosts the annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Carlos Rios -- a Hope-owned-and-managed seniors residence. Residents of Carlos Rios, their families and staff of Hope Community celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday by celebrating our seniors. The annual Thanksgiving Dinner is always well-attended with occasional visits from local elected officials.
FATHER'S DAY CELEBRATION *NEW*
This year Hope Community, Inc. celebrated Father's Day at Carlos Rios-a Hope-owned-and-operated senior residence. Seniors who are fathers were encouraged to participate, enjoy, music, light refreshments and play dominoes. We look forward to making this a successful annual tradition.
ANNUAL COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS DINNER
The Annual Community Service Awards Dinner is a longstanding Hope tradition where we celebrate community service and honor local leaders. The annual event is both a fundraiser and a time to reflect on our work and our partnerships with many other groups and agencies. It is also a forum where we recognize a number of outstanding individuals who have committed their vision and talents to building a better East Harlem; as well as one Hope Community, Inc. staff person and a member our Board of Directors.
